SOUTH BEND-Beatrice M. Hardman, 96, passed away peacefully October 2, 2017. She was born January 19, 1921 to the late James and Reva (Atkinson) Sayler.

On October 28, 1940, Beatrice married the love of her life, Clyde Edwin Hardman. He preceded her in death July 20, 1996. To their union, they were blessed with two children, Carol (Joe) Raymond of South Bend and Jody (Betsey) Hardman of Allen, TX. Also left to cherish her memory are seven grandchildren, Joshua, Joe Jr., Anthony, Jennifer, Aubrey, Morgan and Blake; seven great-grandchildren, Sayler, Saxon, Alivia, Nicholas, Holton, Van and Jax; sister, Irene Hay of South Bend; and two brothers, Tom Sayler of Florida and Jack Sayler of LaPorte.

After completing high school, Beatrice attended IUSB and completed her master’s degree in education. She was a teacher in the SB Community School Corporation for many years until retiring in 1991. She was a devoted mother and taught her children the importance of giving. She was a volunteer for the Christ Child Society and a long time member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling to the Holy Land, Europe, Italy, and Hawaii; and she enjoyed crafts and sewing. She was an eater, not a cook, and enjoyed her steaks well done.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 6, at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m., with visitation from 11-11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Christ Child Society.
