Mildred R. “Millie” Roe passed away on December 5, 2020. She was a resident at Southfield Village for five years. She was born on July 8, 1929 in South Bend, IN, to Asa and Martha (Daughtery) McCartney, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was a lifelong resident of South Bend, graduating in 1947 from Central High School.

On September 3, 1949 in South Bend, she married William “Bill” Roe, who preceded her in death on September 20, 2015. They were married for 66 years and lived in River Park, before moving to Cambridge Square in Mishawaka.

Millie is survived by her three daughters, Martha (Guy) Cressy of South Bend, IN, Peggy (Jim) Siri-Stokes of Granger, IN, and Mary (David) Weber of Mishawaka, IN; as well as her six grandchildren: Jennifer Cressy (Mishawaka), Amy Cressy (South Bend), Matthew Cressy (Spartanburg, SC), Joe Siri (Mishawaka), Tony (Tracy) Siri (San Diego), and Andy (Emily) Weber (Chicago). In addition to her parents and husband, Millie was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Montague, and her two brothers, Jim and Harold McCartney.

Millie was employed as a switchboard operator. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in South Bend. Millie loved to sew for her family and play bingo.

A private committal service will be held at the columbarium at Fairfield Cemetery in Mishawaka. A memorial Mass will be held at a safer date. Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family wants to thank all of the staff at Southfield Village for their compassionate care, especially Michelle Ranschaert.
