Ned Gordon Macwilliams

Ned Gordon MacWilliams passed away at his home in Calabash, NC on Saturday, May 22, 2021. He was 92. Ned was born in Omaha, Nebraska and was always proud of his Midwestern heritage. He graduated from Central High School in South Bend, IN in 1946 and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps until August of 1948. After leaving the Marine Corps, Ned attended the University of Michigan on the GI bill, graduating in 1952. That same year, Ned joined the Ceco Corporation where he worked for 33 years. During his career he lived in Kalamazoo, MI and River Forest, IL, retiring in 1984 to Pawleys Island, SC where he remained until 2016 when he moved to Calabash, NC. Ned is predeceased by Barbara (Wundram), his college sweetheart and wife for over 30 years . He is survived by daughters Mary MacWilliams and Katie MacWilliams and son David; grandchildren Sarah, Kevin, Rachel, and Darlean Wagner, his loving companion for many years.

Ned loved to play golf and bridge, enjoyed the music of the 1940's and to have a good time. He felt strongly about being honest with himself and with others and did his best to always follow the golden rule. In addition to being a wonderful friend and neighbor to many, he was a great father who especially loved his children and was very proud of them. He would be the first to say, "I've had a great life."
