SOUTH BEND - Thomas H. McNaughton, 83, of Largo, FL, passed away Jan. 24, 2012. He was born in South Bend, IN, where he retired as Chief of Police and moved with his family to Florida in 1969. He graduated from Central High School and attended Manchester College. He married his childhood sweetheart, Evelyn Toppel, in 1947. Evelyn and their two sons, Thomas "Lynn" of Largo, and James "Mary" of Quincy, FL, survive. Tom was a director in the real estate department at Jack Eckerd Corp. until he retired for the second time. He was a member of the International Chiefs of Police Assn., Indiana Police Chiefs Assn., St. Joseph Lodge # 36 Fraternal Order of Police, and Holiday Isles Elks Lodge of Madeira Beach. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27th, at Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home, 7950 131st St., Seminole, FL 33776. gardensanctuaryfunerals.com
