FORT MYERS, FL - Mansiel Patrick Hagerty, formerly of South Bend, IN, 87, passed away peacefully on Feb. 3, 2017, surrounded by his family. Pat was born Oct. 5, 1929 in South Bend, IN to the late Mansiel and Mary Helena (Gaffney) Hagerty. He attended South Bend Central High School where he met his sweetheart, the late Dorthy Ann Ellis, who he married January 2, 1949 in Chicago, IL. Pat was a successful businessman, serving as President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of W. J. Hagerty & Sons, Ltd, Inc. for 59 years. He was a hobbyist and entrepreneur who founded several companies such as MPH Games (Krypto and That's Incredible!), Practice House Golf, and Hobby Coin Exchange. Pat was an avid golfer and a former member of Morris Park Country Club in South Bend, IN and Fiddlesticks Country Club in Fort Myers, FL. He was a Roman Catholic, a world traveler, and philanthropist known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and gentle spirit. Above all, he loved his wife and family.He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy “Gigi” Hagerty, his daughter Mary Francis Hagerty, his son and late daughter-in-law Michael and Denise Hagerty, his brother William (Victoria) Hagerty, and his Sister Elva (Benjamin) Krupp. He is survived by his sister, Barbara (Patrick) Pellouchoud of Boulder, CO, three daughters Deborah Hagerty of Granger, IN, Shelley (Jerry) Meszaros of Fennville, MI, Kimberly (James) Batalis of Misawaka, IN, eleven grandchildren Michelle (William) Iglesias, Jamie (Robert) Harris, Todd (Melissa) Meszaros, Tomas (Pamela) Batalis, Peter (Shannon) Batalis, Dianna (Patrick) Leinen, Caitlin (Scott) VanZant, Christie Batalis, Dawn Hagerty, Halley (Brockton) Martin, and Dominic Gilbert, numerous great grand children & one great-great grandchild. In remembrance and celebration of Pat's life, a funeral Mass was celebrated at The Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord in Fort Myers, FL. The Rite of Christian Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery in South Bend, IN at 12:00 p.m. on July 19, 2017.
