Kenneth Miller - Class Of 1962

Central 1962 Kenneth Miller

May 11, 1944 - Oct. 1, 2016

SOUTH BEND - Mr. Kenneth Raleigh Miller Sr., 72, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother who resided in South Bend, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord at 3:30am on October 1, 2016 peacefully at home after a prolonged illness.

Kenneth, the son of James Wilder and Jimmie Hoover, who preceded him in death, was a lifelong resident of South Bend. He attended Central High School prior to enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed at Camp Lejune, North Carolina where he met the love of his life, Frank Lena Miller. They were married on July 5, 1964 and remained in holy matrimony for 52 years. Kenneth served his country during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was honorably discharged in 1966. After his discharge, he returned to South Bend and was employed by Indiana Bell until his retirement.

He was a father of four: Kenneth R. (Selena - “Shonunu”) Miller Jr. of South Bend; Denny R. (Rochelle) Miller - who preceded him in death; James W. (Darlene) Miller of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Matthew S. (Felisa) Miller of Katy, Texas. He was a grandfather to 14 grandsons: Dominic, Kenneth III, Deion, Derrick, Matthew, Anthony, Christopher, Christian, James, Christopher, Devante, Terrance, Joshua, and Caleb; three granddaughters, Andrea, Jessica, and Brianna; and one great-granddaughter, Leilah. He was a brother to Gloria Lyvers, Janice F. Miller, John Miller, and James Richardson (deceased). Additionally, he always regarded Lynn Coleman as his brother. He is also survived by a host of nephews and nieces, numerous relatives (Miller's, Wilder's and Baldwin's) and friends.

Kenneth's favorite scripture was Isaiah 53:6 - “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Besides the great love for God and his family, he had a lifelong love for music, fishing, gardening, traveling and always enjoyed a great conversation.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at New Life Fellowship Church with viewing occurring from 11:00 a.m. to noon at the church.
