Nancy Lee Johnson

Sep. 15, 1942 - May 4, 2003

Nancy Lee Johnson, 60, of Alou Lane, South Bend, Ind., died at 2:54 p.m. Sunday, May 4, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.

She was born on Sept. 15, 1942, in South Bend, to the late Jeanne (Donker) and William Wright. In June 1974 she married Alphonso Johnson, who also preceded her in death on April 3, 1991.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughter, Lorri (Doug) Martin of South Bend, and by two cats and seven granddogs and kitties.

Mrs. Johnson had recently been helping her daughter run her business, It's Never to Early, in the Farmers Market in South Bend, and prior to that had retired as a deputy assessor for Clay Township. She had also worked as a cashier at Hank's Supermarket and had worked at Wrights Stateline Drive-In, which was owned by her father. She was a member of the Clay Township Republican Club and the Red Hat Society at the Farmers Market.

Services for Mrs. Johnson will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 8, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today. Rev. John Railton of Timberland Bible Church will conduct the services. Cremation will take place in the Michiana Crematory, with burial taking place at a later date at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Pet Refuge Inc., 2300 West 6th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
