Margaret Grounds

Margaret (Margee) Grounds, 80, died July 23, 2022 in Phoenix, Arizona. Margee was born in South Bend, Indiana on May 14, 1942. She graduated from Central High School in South Bend and earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Indiana at South Bend. As a graduate student at the University of Notre Dame she began her thesis on the author Iris Murdoch. This work resulted in a lifelong friendship with Ms. Murdoch and many trips to England.

Margee’s talents were many and varied. She worked as a meat cutter and taught classes at Notre Dame. She raised money for the Cerebral Palsy Foundation and worked as a copy editor for the South Bend Tribune. In the 1980s Margee became involved in the Unity Church. She eventually studied at the Unity School for Ministerial and Religious Studies and became ordained as a Unity Minister in 1992. Margee served as Senior Minister in Savannah, Georgia and pioneered a Unity Church in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. She served on many and various Unity ministry teams regionally and internationally.

Margee was known for her love of reading, travel, her computer skills her melodic laugh, and her fondness for large earrings. She was full of light and was a positive force in all the lives she touched. She was blessed to have her friend, Reverend Billie Martini and family Cindy Grounds, Carrie and Tony Forsyth, watch out for her at the end of her life.

Margee is survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents William and Margaret Grounds, sisters Dorothy Christenson, and Ana Marie Davis, and brothers William and Louis Grounds.
