Jack E. "Butch" Grall May 18, 1943 - Feb. 27, 2015 ELKHART - Jack E. "Butch" Grall, 71, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015, at Elkhart Hospice House.

Butch, as he was known to his family and friends, was born on May 18, 1943, in South Bend, to Jack E. and Irene (DeCook) Grall Sr. Surviving are a son, Gary (Joanie) Grall of Riverview, Fla., and daughter, Kimberly Gunter of Elkhart; five grandchildren, whom he adored, Allyson (Joe) Bryant, Lauren Gunter and Sydney Gunter, all of Elkhart, and Calvin and Camille Grall of Riverview, Fla.; his mother, Irene Staley of Elkhart; sisters, Ruthanne Berry and Carolyn Cash of Elkhart, Diana Grall of Mishawaka, and a brother, Michael Grall of Edwardsburg. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack E. Grall Sr.

Butch retired from Vincent Bach with close to 30 years of service. He was a member of UAW Local #364 while working there. He graduated from South Bend Central High School and then enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served as an Air Policeman from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1963. He was the former owner of Aqua Pools in Elkhart, which he ran for many years. Butch was an avid outdoorsman; he loved to hunt and fish. He also was a big I.U. basketball fan, especially during Bobby Knight's reign.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The afternoon will conclude with military honors being rendered by the U.S. Air Force Funeral Honor Guard and DAV Chapter #19. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place with burial at a later date in the veterans section at Prairie Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Elkhart Hospice House, 22579 Old US 20 East, Elkhart, IN 46516.
