Robert "Bob" A. Voogd

South Bend - Robert "Bob" A. Voogd, 73, of South Bend, IN, passed away surrounded by family at 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN. He had many health issues, but it was his recent diagnosis of leukemia that proved to be too much.

He was born on February 14, 1948 to the late Kenneth F. Voogd and Edith A. (Cuvelier) Voogd in South Bend, IN, and remained a lifelong resident. Along with his parents; one sister, Patricia Lindemann; and one brother, Terry Voogd preceded him in death.

Bob graduated in 1966 from South Bend Central High School, where he played baseball.

He retired in May of 2014 from Tire Rack in South Bend, IN, where he worked as a Computer Programmer/Analyst from 2003-2014. Prior to that, he worked at Electro-Voice in Buchanan, MI for 23 years.

On June 12, 1970, he married Luana M. Melady in South Bend, IN.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Luana M. Voogd of South Bend, IN; four children, Maria (Tyrone) Murphy of Tonopah, AZ; Beverly (Charles II) Gordon of South Bend, IN; Wesley (Josi) Voogd of Pueblo, CO; Jessica (Cesar) Rosales of Winona Lake, IN; nine grandchildren, Charles (Evelyn) and Tyrone Murphy; Sierra Voogd; Amelia, Jose, Isaias, Noemi, and Rut Rosales; and Charles "Tre" Gordon III; two sisters, Kay (Don) Perry of Niles, MI; Candace Gonzales of LaPorte, IN; and one sister-in-law, Carolyn Voogd of Onsted, MI; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was a member of the Roseland Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, South Bend, IN. He loved to play golf and grill. He grilled the best Hawaiian chicken, steaks and burgers! Bob was a warm and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who loved spending time with his family. He was quick witted and loved to laugh and tease. He was a cherished friend to many and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service via zoom will take place at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021. Burial will take place at a later date in Riverview Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
