April 5, 1925 - June 10, 2011 SOUTH BEND - Adeline Waslicki Jaskowiak, 86, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2011, in Miller's Merry Manor in New Carlisle. Adeline was born April 5, 1925, in South Bend, to the late Steve and Lottie (Borowski) Stachowski. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Waslicki in 1978; her second husband, George Jaskowiak in 1998; sisters, Rita Paskiet and Dorothy Laughman; a brother, Ernest Stachowski; and by two brothers-in-law, George Laughman and Richard Paskiet.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue (Michael) Boorstein of Fairfax, VA; two stepdaughters, Victoria (Robert) Stender of South Bend and Germaine Steumer of South Bend; stepson, Michael Jaskowiak of CA; granddaughter, Tamara Boorstein of New York; three step-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Stachowski of South Bend. A

deline was a graduate of Central High School and took classes at Indiana University in South Bend.

In 1948, Adeline started working for Minczeski Realty and Insurance Agency in South Bend, and became the owner of the agency in 1970. She retired in 1995. After her retirement, Adeline continued to work as a tax preparer in her home. One of the original organizers of the Western Avenue Business Council, Adeline served as its secretary and president. Adeline was instrumental in forming the South Bend-Mishawaka Association of Insurance Women, was a charter member and served as its president. In 1965 she was elected director of Region IV of the National Association of Insurance Women.

As a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary Pulaski Post 357, she served seven times as president. She was also a member of Z.B. Falcon Nest 80. Starting in 1958, for many years she held the position of secretary of the West Side Memorial Committee. Adeline's hobbies included golf, arts and crafts, playing the organ and piano, and travel.

The family expresses its deep appreciation and thanks to Drs. Anderson, Navari and Sarnat, and the staff of Miller's Merry Manor for their attentive care to Adeline throughout her illness.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Columbarium 1.
