MARY A. (KECSKEMETI) HAMILTON

April 21, 1924 - July 26, 2009 GRANGER - Mary A. Hamilton, 85, of Granger, IN, passed away at 6:37 a.m. Sunday, July 26, 2009, in the Healthwin Specialized Care Facility in South Bend, IN.
She was born on April 21, 1924, to the late Frank and Mary (Soltesz) Kecskemeti in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Hamilton retired in 1989 from Sears Roebuck and Company after 27 years of employment.

She graduated in 1943 from Central High School.

On April 16, 1951, as Mary A. Kecskemeti, she married William C. Hamilton at St. Stephen Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. He died on August 2, 1975. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle J. (Gerald) Crawford of Granger, IN; two sons, Michael P. Hamilton of Scottsdale, AZ, and Thomas R. Hamilton of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Collin and Erin Crawford of Granger, IN, Noel (Adriana) Hamilton of South Bend, IN, and Ian (Rachel) Hamilton of Mishawaka, IN; two great-grandchildren, Reed Hamilton of Mishawaka, IN, and Joshua Greenlee of South Bend, IN; and her sister, Anne Moyer of South Bend, IN.

Mrs. Hamilton was a member of St. Pius X Parish in Granger, IN. Mary enjoyed playing Bingo with her friends at Arborwood. She loved to travel with her family, and especially enjoyed her trip to Hungary and London. Mary was a good mother and especially loved being a grandmother. She also loved and spoiled her dog, Lady, and her cat, Kramer.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2009, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. Friends may also visit from 9:30 - 10:20 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, in St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, in St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, IN, Inc., 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
