Roland H. Dickinson, 72, of 131 North Huey Street, South Bend, Ind., beloved father, grandfather, and brother, departed this life following an extended illness at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, at Memorial Hospital.

He was born on August 31, 1925, in Newton, Kan., from the union of Jess L. and Helen Dickinson. Both preceded him in death. He came to South Bend with his family in 1927.

On June 10, 1961, he was united in marriage to Rosemary Robbins Bryant.

Roland retired from the O'Brien Paint Company in 1987.

He was a member of the Players, the South Bend Burliegh Performing groups. Roland was also a member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, where he was active on the Deacon Board; a Sunday school teacher; a member of the Senior Choir, Mass Choir, and the Brotherhood of Indiana.

He is survived by a daughter, Carolyn R. Griffin of South Bend; a son, Charles Bryant of Marion, Ind.; two brothers, a twin, Coleridge T. Dickinson of South Bend, and Carroll A. Dickinson of Kalamazoo, Mich.; three grandchildren, Destinee L. Bryant of Marion and John D. Griffin and Roland T. Griffin of South Bend; and by a special friend, Mary Blanton of South Bend.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, followed by burial at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend."
