John Wesley “Mouse” Childress, Jr.

April 15,1951 - July 30, 2022

John Wesley “Mouse” Childress, Jr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2022, in Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by his devoted family. John Jr. was born on April 15, 1951 to Evelyn and John Wesley Childress Sr. in South Bend, Indiana. John Jr. graduated from Central High School and attended Davenport College, after which he enlisted in the United States Air Force, from which he was Honorably Discharged. Several years later, John Jr. relocated to Las Vegas where he resided for the past 35 years. While working as a Timeshare Agent, John Jr. was the consummate host for family and friends who visited the area, and he enjoyed taking them to dinner, followed by one of the many live shows on “The Strip.” Whenever John Jr. was around, a good time was had by all.

John Jr. was preceded in death by his Beloved Parents, Evelyn and John Wesley Childress, Sr. John Jr. leaves to forever cherish his memory his four loving children: Torlando (Suzette) Childress, Toficia (Carl) Trotter-Neal, Kalyn Childress, and John Trotter; grandchildren: Torrence Sutherland Jr., Cameron Robinson Jr., Chosan Dockery, Wesley Childress, Jamara Trotter, and Josiah Trotter; and one great-grandchild: Drue Sutherland. John Jr. is also survived by his six siblings: Ronald (Krystal) Childress Sr., Sharla Childress Anderson, Jacqueline Childress-Mitchell, Kevin Childress, Dana Childress-Jones, and Bryan (Brenda) Childress, his nieces, Shanice (Paul) Anderson Tchamambe, GeDa’ (Julian) Jones Herbert, Lauren Mitchell and Jaila Childress; his nephews, Ronald Childress, Jr., Anthony (DeJonnette) Childress, and Kei (Makisha) Childress and his extended family, Lena Simpson-Perkins, Felecia Trotter, and Edwin Simpson Perkins as well as a vast number of cousins, other relatives, and many friends. John Jr. will be forever missed by those whose lives he touched.

Arrangements: Thursday, August 18, 2022, Bunker Eden Vale Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, Las Vegas, Nevada 89101: Visitation will be held from 12pm to 2pm, with the Funeral Service at 2pm, immediately followed by a Repast from 3pm to 5pm. The interment, with Military Honors, will occur on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 10:40am at Southern Nevada Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.
