South Bend - Joseph Bubelenyi, 76, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 in the Sanctuary at Holy Cross.

Joseph was born March 7, 1945 in South Bend to the late Michael & Helen (Mikusak) Bubelenyi Sr. On November 2, 1974 Joseph married Patricia Bubelenyi, she preceded him in death on January 14, 2013. Joseph was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael Bubelenyi, Jr.

Left to cherish the memory of Joseph are his loving son, Michael (Tracy) Bubelenyi; grandchildren, Nathan M. (Jen) Thompson, Nicole E. (Austin) Young, Autumn H. (Rod Krallman) Neil, Ethan M. Bubelenyi, Adam J. Bubelenyi; and great-children, Grayson Bubelenyi & Norah Young; and other cherished family.

Joseph honorably served his country in the United States Navy as a Seabee in unit MCB 40 during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Marine Corps League, Army Navy League, VVA, and the FOP; serving as the Senior Vice & Adjunct at the VFW 9820 and President of the VVA. Joe worked for Bill Frank Nissan and retired from Gurley Leep. He was also a Reserve Police Officer with the St. Joseph County Police for 21 years. Joe was very involved with community services and a huge advocated for veteran affairs. He held his fellow veterans near & dear to his heart. Joe loved spending as much time as he could with this family, especially at cookouts, football, Sunday dinners, bonfires, and any event involving family or veterans. He touched many lives.

Visitation will be 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Monday, November 1, 2021 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, Mayflower Rd. with a Funeral Service to begin at 6:00 pm followed by Military Honors. Joseph will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery.
