SOUTH BEND, IN - Richard Joseph Baraso, 76, of South Bend, IN, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 20, 2019 in his home.

He was born on January 16, 1943 to the late Joseph and Mary E. (Suth) Baraso in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident.

Richard was a graduate of South Bend Central High School. He retired in 1998 from NIPSCO in South Bend, IN, where he worked as a Pipe Fitter for 32 years. Following retirement, Richard worked at Whispering Pines Golf Course and Hertz Rental Car Company.

On April 27, 1963, he married Lucille Ann Latosinski at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. She passed away on September 27, 2010.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Michele A. (Randall) Pawlak of South Bend, IN; sons, Randall R. (Leslie) Baraso of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Robert A. (Jacqueline) Baraso of Plainfield, IN; eight grandchildren: Jordan, Kristin, Hope, and Sean Pawlak; Skylar and Sage Baraso; Sydney and Sophia Baraso; and one great-granddaughter, Ava.

Richard was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a member of Christ the King Parish and the Married Men's Club at St. Casimir Parish. Richard enjoyed playing golf and traveling. He was a dedicated Chicago Cubs fan and Notre Dame football fan. Richard most of all enjoyed spending time with his children & grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Rosary will be prayed by the St. Casimir Married Men's Club at 4:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2019 at Christ the King Catholic Church in South Bend. Burial will take place in Highland Cemetery at a later date.
