John D Jamison - Class Of 1968

John D Jamison

John D. Jamison, 68, residing in South Bend, IN, passed away at 3:30am on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Jamison was born on July 20, 1948 in Noxubee, MS, to T.C. Jamison, Sr. and Georgianna Jamison.

John was married to his ex-wife, Margaret Smith Jamison, for 25 years. From that union, six children were born: surviving daughters, Connie Collins, Donna Jamison, Christal Jamison, Jonette (Terrance) Burden; and his only son, Jermyn Jamison, all of South Bend. Mr. Jamison had eight grandchildren: Cordon (Kassandra) Watkins, TaDaysha Neely, Jonathan Roberts, Tiyana Outlaw, Elijah Grayson, Ny’Jae Burden, Naja Burden, and Amaria Burden. He also had three great-grandchildren: Ja’Nyla Watkins, Corion Watkins, and KaHala Neely, all of South Bend. He is also survived by four sisters, Sandy Lighthall, Linda Chatman, Michelle Jamison, and Sharon Jamison, as well as one brother, T.C. Jamison, Jr., all of South Bend. In addition, Mr. Jamison is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Mr. Jamison retired from McCormick & Company, Inc. in South Bend. John was a loving husband and father, who loved being around his family and friends. He loved his music, especially “Got to Give It Up” by Marvin Gaye. This song was known as the “BBQ song” to our family, because when daddy played this song, he always would barbeque. John enjoyed life to the fullest. He also had a special friend, Darlene Hughes, as well as his best friend, Devore Smith. John was preceded in death by his father, T.C. Jamison, Sr.; brother, Walter Jamison; uncle, Edwin Showers; aunt, Maudine Ross; and daughter, Camille Jamison.

The family would like to thank all of the families and friends who have called, prayed, and sent their condolences. A special thanks to the Center for Hospice for their great care and compassion.

In keeping with John’s request, there will be no services. Palmer Funeral Home—West Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
