Duane Williams

SOUTH BEND - Duane “Whitey” Williams, 87, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 12:35 a.m. Sunday, January 24, 2015, at the Hearth at Juday Creek. He was born on May 10, 1928, in South Bend, IN, to the late Samuel and Hazel (Stradley) Williams. On June 26, 1948, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in South Bend, IN, he was united in marriage to Matilda (Kocsis) Williams.

Duane is survived by his wife, Matilda Williams; two sons, Terry Lee (Pattie) Williams of Glen Carbon, IL, and David Allen (Kim) Williams of Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren, Emily (Lee) Williams Daughtry and Daniel (Lindsey Stallman) Williams; four great-grandchildren, Anna, Clara and Laurel Daughtry and Henry Williams; and brother, Ron Williams of Reno, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rex Williams.

Duane was a lifelong resident. He graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1946. He was a former member of Masonic Lodge Council Oak #745, Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and card playing, especially euchre. He loved to travel and go on cruises.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN.
