Condolences

John Walter "Walt" Webster, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 after a long term illness.

Walt was born in South Bend, IN in 1945 to Walt and Ruth Webster. He graduated from South Bend Central High School and then Western Michigan University. Walt achieved the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and was involved with CPCU at both state and local levels.

Walt was a kind and gentle man who loved his family, his church and his friends. As a 30 year Geneva resident, he will most likely be remembered for his post retirement roles as a sales professional for Houghton-Mifflin, a crew member at Trader Joes, a school bus driver for Geneva Community Schools and a choir member at First Baptist Church of Geneva. Walt was an active relational man who found great joy in serving others.

His professional career for close to 40 years was in Commercial Insurance, working for Citizens Mutual, Employers Insurance of Wausau, NCCI and most significantly John Deere Insurance as a field sales representative. Walt was an officer in the US Army from 1968-1974.

His passions beyond church, family and friends included golf, sailing, NCAA basketball and music. Walt loved to travel both domestically and internationally.

Walt is survived by his loving wife of almost 48 years, Dianne; two daughters, Meegan (John) Stephens of Madison and Melissa (Mark) Robitaille of Escanaba, MI; three grandchildren, Avery and Griffin Stephens and Johnna Rae Faith Robitaille; sister, Kris (Dick) Hanor of Vero Beach, FL; and many other dear relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Walt will be held at First Baptist Church of Geneva, 2300 South Street, Geneva on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Brian Coffey officiating. A brief visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:30 am at the same location.
