NEW CARLISLE - George K. Myer, 73, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed suddenly at 9:00 a.m. Sunday, February 4, 2018 at his home. George was born August 18, 1944 in South Bend to Howard and Ethel (Ridenour) Myer. He had lived in New Carlisle for 52 years. George retired from NIPSCO after 34 years. On June 11, 1966, in the Epworth Memorial Methodist Church, he married Judy A. Hawn, who survives. George is also survived by his two sons, Russell (Debbie) Myer and Andrew (DeeDee) Myer both of New Carlisle, Indiana; two grandchildren, Lucy and Molly Myer; and special to his heart, D.J. and Caitlin Womack, and Ashlyn and Kelseigh Kopinski. George was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Ethel Myer; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell and Ruth Hawn. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, where a Masonic Memorial Service will take place at 6:00 p.m. A visitation will also be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. George was a 1963 graduate of South Bend Central High School. He was a past Worshipful Master of St. Joseph Lodge 45 F. & A.M. George was a member of the New Carlisle Lions Club; St. Joseph County 4-H Leader for the Goat, Electric and Donkey Clubs; Past President and former Coach for New Carlisle Little League; Vice President of T-Ball for Chet Waggoner Little League; member of St. Joseph County Ag Team; and Purdue UniversityCooperative Extension Service 4-H.
