Granger - Phyllis L. Parks passed away Monday, November 1, 2021, on her 80th birthday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN. She was born November 1, 1941, in Milledgeville, GA to the late Vincent and Reba (Fuller) Bailey. Phyllis was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1959. She married Larry Parks in 1961, and together they had three children, who became the joy and love of her life.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Greg) Wilton of Damascus, OR and Shalese (Gregory) Moo of Deland, FL; son, Shawn (Ruth) Parks of Indianapolis, IN; grandson, Joey Laureano; great-granddaughter, Trinity Noffsinger; and brother, Bruce (Betsy) Bailey of Columbia, SC. Her relationship with John Duncan graced her with a large extended family including David Duncan, Janine Burnett, and Debbie Born as well as granting her four grandchildren, Kailie, Zach, John Cole, and Josh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Parks; longtime companion, John Duncan; stepdaughter, Linda Balentine; and two grandchildren, Nicole Noffsinger and Eric Parks.

Phyllis retired from J.C. Penney's after 35 years of service. She was a loving and supportive mother and grandmother. Phyllis enjoyed playing word games with friends and family. In the 90's, she became an accomplished line dancer frequenting Heartland Dancehall on a regular basis. She was an avid Notre Dame football fan and loved attending home games when possible. She also enjoyed an occasional trip to the gambling boats, slots being her favorite. She was a skilled piano player and spoke with fond memories of her summer in Chicago attending Sherwood Music School, as well as summers spent with family in Georgia. She spent hours at her piano playing beloved music. Later in life, her greatest joy came from visits from her children, friends, and family. Phyllis was loved and cherished and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Rd., South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 PM until the time of services.
